Benefits of Being an Ambassador

Hello everyone! My name is Jeremy Waldron, and I am a STEM Ambassador. Working as a STEM Ambassador can lead to a multitude of different experiences. With On-Call assignments taking Ambassadors across the Memphis area and even outside at times and Regular assignments keeping Ambassadors busy week to week, the result is never a dull moment. STEM Ambassadors are called upon to teach in a variety of different settings and give their support to the community to spread the STEM field in an educational manner. Working with dozens of schools and a multitude of organizations and members of the community, STEM Ambassadors are met with a variety of different situations and tasks. They may be teaching robotics to an Elementary school one day and the next, preparing a student for their ACT.  Whatever the case, the life of an Ambassador is always changing.

With this ever-changing environment, Ambassadors must be able to adapt to their situation and the tasks, which they have been assigned. This adaptability is no small feat; rather, it is a steppingstone towards an extremely useful skill. Any STEM-oriented person will say the ability to solve problems as they arise is something to be sought after. Being a STEM Ambassador prepares people to do just that. Using their problem-solving capabilities in the field the Ambassadors are able to take on any issue that comes their way. This use of skill is done in a safe and secure environment so as to prevent any further issues that may arise from its usage. By doing so, our Ambassadors are able to further train this skill. Slowly this skill evolves into one that will serve as a great benefit to our Ambassadors as they look forward into the careers of their majors. Both preparing our ambassadors for the bright future ahead of them and training them to be a highly valued member in both society and their community is one of the main goals of the West Tennessee STEM Hub.
